MEET MISTER CARTOON
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Mister Cartoon began his career as a graffiti artist in the 1980s, Cartoon went on to gain notoriety for his unique tattoos, album cover designs, logos, advertisements, and custom lowrider car murals. His richly detailed, hand-rendered designs are inspired by the style of tattoos that originated in the hard streets of 1970s’ Los Angeles. Cartoons Art embodies the true sole of Los Angeles street culture and has taken the fine line, black and grey Tattoo culture to the masses. Cartoons unique position with in the art world helps bridge the gap between corporate America and hard-core Los Angeles street culture.
He has inked stars such as Eminem, Travis Barker, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Mena Suvari and Ryan Phillippe . Cartoon has partnered with companies such as Microsoft, Nike, Stussy, T-Mobile, Rock Star Games, and Harley-Davidson, on a variety of successful art based collaborations. Mister Cartoon’s art work has been featured in numerous publications ranging from Rolling Stone, Wall Street Journal, Complex, Juxtapose, XXL , GQ and many more.
His paintings have been part of many international exhibitions and has attracted a diverse and devoted fan base from around the world with highly acclaimed shows from London, Paris, Tokyo, and beyond.
Cartoon is currently working on a 110 page graphic novel that he is writing and illustrating which is being put out through Time Warner books he balances this with a monthly outreach program were he shares knowledge and inspiration to youth groups and community projects.
Mister Cartoon’s life is the focus of an upcoming feature film, directed by his business partner Estevan Oriol and produced by Brian Grazer. Together with Oriol, Mister Cartoon runs a lifestyle marketing agency called SA Studios Global in Los Angeles, where he resides.
